Topic: Geotechnical Overview & Foundation Options presented by Jake Sarna, PG with S&ME.

Please join us for this month's lunch and learn on Thursday, May 21st where Jake will be presenting a brief explanation of what a geotechnical site exploration is along with an overview the various foundations options available to the design team based on the results these explorations (i.e. conventional shallow foundations, aggregate piers, rigid inclusions, drilled shafts, auger cast piles, drive piles, micropiles, etc.).

Jake is a Professional Geologist and S&ME Senior Reviewer with a total of 26 years of experience (19 years in Charlotte) in Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Materials Testing, Special Inspections and Environmental Consulting services. He has spent the past 10 years in operations management of these service lines being responsible for the overall leadership of the groups including technical oversight, planning, growth, profitability, employee development, client relations and risk management. His technical skills associated with Geotechnical Engineering include subsurface explorations, geophysical investigations (GPR, ReMi, Seismic Refraction, Electrical Resistivity), shallow and deep foundations, ground improvement systems, bearing capacity evaluation, settlement analysis, flexible and rigid pavement design, MSE walls and reinforced slopes, soil-cement/soil-lime mix design, dewatering, seismic site classification, sinkhole remediation and forensic investigations.

This meeting is free for members or applicants with membership form/dues, and $10 for nonmembers. Please make your reservation to attend by 5:00 pm on Wednesday, May 20th.
